madlori 's fic journal! I started this journal as a place to keep all my fanfiction together in one spot so that anyone looking for it (me, mostly) could find it easily.

Each fandom has its own master post. This post is sort of a master post of master posts, and it'll stay here at the top of the journal. My eventual plan is to move all the text of the various fanfictions here to this journal, backdated to reflect when they were written. That'll be pretty easy for the fics that are already on LJ, but a fair number of the older ones are not, so that'll be a work in progress. For now, each master post will contain links to wherever the fiction is currently housed.

1. Alone On the Water (one-shot, rated PG, 7700 words)

Sherlock Holmes never expected to live a long life, but he never thought it would end like this.

This was my first piece of "Sherlock" fanfiction. It's very angsty and contains character death. I've recently been informed that the fandom considers reading this story to be a rite of passage. Um...thanks? I think?

2. Senza Catene (one-shot, rated PG, 6500 words)

Sherlock has a secret hobby. One night John follows him and gets the surprise of his life.

This fic is total crack. In it, Sherlock sings opera. To repeat: Sherlock sings OPERA. It also contains embedded music files for your enrichment. It's Crackfic: The Musical!

3. The Blog of Eugenia Watson (28 chapters, 93000 words total, rated PG - complete for now)

A series of entries from the blog of Genie Watson, John's daughter. This fic began its life as a story about how John and Sherlock might get together after John had married and had a child. In that story (which I am still writing), Genie was seven years old. I started writing these blogs as a sort of prequel to introduce readers to Genie at sixteen as well as her mother Grace, John's ex-wife. It's about Genie's life with her unconventional family: her divorced parents and her father's husband, Sherlock Holmes.

4. Performance in a Leading Role (WIP, AU)

Sherlock is an Oscar-winning actor in a career slump and John Watson is an Everyman actor trapped in the rom-com ghetto. When they are cast as a gay couple in an upcoming indie drama, will life imitate art?

If you really want to get an idea of how far I've come as a writer, go ahead and (attempt to) read my very first fanfiction epic, a Classic!Who trilogy about the Seventh Doctor and his companion Ace. It was pretty popular when it was written, back in...1995.

But in many ways this story paved the way for a lot of my later stuff, especially the Harry Potter stuff. The characters of the Eternals, including the omniscient Theo, made their first appearance in these stories.

Follow-up short fic that (I think) represents some writing progress and was, in many ways, a dry run for the much-later Tenth Doctor short story I wrote in 2006 (link below).

A Thousand Languages

Well, here it is. The fandom that got me new friends, a new job (indirectly) and practically a whole lifestyle. Not a week goes by that someone doesn't comment to me in private email or somewhere about PoU and my HP fic.

With all my other fandoms I do eventually plan to move the stories themselves to LJ but for HP? I'm not sure I can. The chapters are so damn long, it'll be quite a project to break them up into LJ post length. For now I am linking to the stories on FictionAlley, and for the naughty ones to the Files section of the Yahoo!Group. The one-shots I will probably move here eventually, then I can disband the Yahoo!Group.
